Bill 40 lowers the required threshold to 80% from 100% for strata corporation members to vote to dissolve their entity and sell their buildings.
As of July 2016, unanimous owner agreement is no longer required to wind-up a strata corporation in BC. Owners of a Vancouver condo became the first in BC to dissolve their strata corporation without 100% owner support. It is estimated that many strata corporations across Metro Vancouver will follow suit and are investigating selling their complexes to developers.

Shawn is a long time member of the Advisory Group for Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Burnaby and New Westminster of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver.
John Joined Sutton Group 1st West Realty in 1992. John comes with an extensive marketing and development background from BC Tel managing the Phone Mart Operation for Greater Vancouver.
His experience in negotiating on behalf of BC Tel has provided much needed expertise in negotiating in Real Estate transactions with developers and investors.
He has focused his activities on residential properties with particular emphasis on land development in and around Greater Vancouver.
John is a past divisional director for BNT of the Real Estate Board and a past member and director of Coquitlam Chamber of Commerce, and a present member of Rotary Club (Coquitlam Sunrise).
